Weighted Residuals Method Applied to the Filament Winding Process
Simultaneous process of filament winding and curing a reinforced polymer is widely used in composite industries. This process is normally used for manufacturing cylindrical structures of the composite materials, which have been used in many fields including aerospace and chemical industries, sports and military. The process consists in winding fibres passing through a resin bath on a mandrel at...
متن کاملGenetic Algorithm Optimization of a Filament Winding Process
This paper describes a research effort to improve the efficiency of a filament winding process by combining the simulation capabilities of the WITNESS modeling program with the search capabilities of a genetic algorithm. Results show that the genetic algorithm is able to reduce the cost of producing filament wound mandrels used in the defense industry.
متن کاملFilament Winding Simulation for Robotic Cell Design
Filament winding is gaining increasing importance due to the widespread availability of modern automation techniques. This requires high designing efforts in order to exploit such a potentiality. For the achievement of high level of accuracy, numeric controlled industrial robots are used to carry special designed delivery eye. Moreover, the necessity to process complex shape objects leads to co...
متن کاملSimulation for a Sound Analysis of Robot Part Program in Filament Winding Process
The high costs related to the production of composite products force firms to a better utilization of the plants. Different actions can be taken in order to decrease the use of human resources and to automate the entire process. The paper proposes a new policy for the generation of the part program in robotic filament winding process in order to deal with non-simple shape products. The proposed...
متن کاملGenetic Algorithm Optimization of a Filament Winding Process Modeled in WITNESS
With the advent of smaller, less expensive, and generally more effective computers, simulation models and simulation environments have become increasingly popular tools for solving engineering problems. This paper describes an effort to link a genetic algorithm with WITNESS, a modeling program developed by AT&T and Istel, in order to optimize a model of a manufacturing process called filament w...
